Part 3: Safety, Hazard Awareness & Emergency Response

3.1 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Mandatory gear: hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety vest, gloves, and safety glasses when needed.
  • Check site-specific PPE requirements before each shift.

3.2 Common Construction Hazards

  • Trip hazards (tools, cables, debris)
  • Falling objects from scaffolding or cranes
  • Unauthorized hot work (welding, cutting)
  • Flammable chemical storage

3.3 Reporting Hazards

  • Document and report all hazards immediately.
  • Alert site supervisors and follow Matric Security’s chain of command.

3.4 Emergency Preparedness

  • Know the location of fire extinguishers, exits, and first aid kits.
  • Understand the site’s emergency evacuation plan.
  • In case of medical emergency: call 911, notify site lead, and provide assistance if trained.
  • In case of fire: activate alarm, call emergency services, evacuate as instructed.
